Give and Giving

The Sonia Balazovjech Dance Company was built along the premises of Giving Back. Young women ranging in age from 18 to 42, and all in different stages of their lives - wives, mothers, girl friends, workers, students - they are bound by a strong bound of love for each other and their love for dance - and by the hopes and dreams that they can make a difference.

Always creating thought-provoking performances, they have danced at events, or created full-length productions that benefit charitable causes that resonate with them.

Supported Charities or Organizations include

WIAIH - WIAIH; The West Island Association for the Intellectually Handicapped, is an organization located in Montreal that serves people with intellectual handicaps or autism. In 2017, SBDC presented Perspectives, a production that explored what living with an intellectual disability or autism means to so many families in our community. The show was able to raise much needed awareness of the many invaluable services and programs WIAIH offers to families in our community.

Supercutz Scholarship Foundation - in 2015, SBDC presented RÊVE. Throughout the course of two evenings, SuperKutz Scholarship Foundation in collaboration with SBDC awarded $7 500.00 to eight deserving young students through a moving presentation made  to acknowledge and commend the scholarship recipients.

Leave Out Violence.org (LOVE) -  in 2014, SBDC presented Addicted to Love - a 90 minute show that got to the very core of what this organization is about - helping prevent violence in the lives of youth and in our communities by holding a mirror up to what could be.

60 Million Girls Foundation - a Montreal organization that supports the education of young women in marginalized countries. In 2011, SBDC staged ENSEMBLE to raise funds and awareness for this group.

The West Island Women's Shelter -  the inspiration and recipient of funds from The Power of Lipstick, a full-length production  created in 2010.

Supporters include

As a non-profit organization made up of volunteers, SBDC counts on the support of individuals and companies to help them continue to put their hands - and feet - into creating meaningful performances. Thank you to everyone who has donated time, finances, and goods to our productions so far.
